A Love Letter to My Child’s Teacher

To The Person Who Dedicates Their Life To Helping My Child,

First of all, thank you. I know we don’t come face to face that often, but I must tell you how ardently I adore you. I hear stories about how you’ve been working in my child’s life. I see how hard you work when you send out correspondence to classroom parents. I know you work from sun up to sun down. I see how much my child admires you. I must say, I think you are amazing.

Thank you for taking the time to notice my child. You know their strengths; you know where there is need for improvement. I am so impressed when I come to conferences and see that you truly care about their education and growth. That means so much, because I’m sending a piece of my heart off into the world each day, hoping someone is treating it tenderly.

I know that you are more than an educator. You are a friend, you are an ally, you are a tear wiper, you are a listening ear, you are a joke teller, you are a role model, you are a compassionate soul. And teacher, I know, you are only human. Sometimes the days are long, and the kids can get rowdy. You see the hard moments when the children are being tough to deal with. I know you have a lot on your plate. So in case no one has told you lately, your job is so important, and you are appreciated dearly. You are irreplaceable because you are leading our future leaders. You are like an overflowing cup being poured out to fill the smaller cups all around you. You are making a difference in eyes of little ones with big dreams. So thank you for encouraging and inspiring.

The purpose of my letter is to tell you just how special you are to my family, but I feel at a loss because my words don’t seem like enough. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart. Know that you are loved.

Your admirer,

Your Student’s Mom

P. S. You get an A+ in my book!

Note from the contributor: This letter is addressed to the many educators that have touched the lives of my children throughout the years. It is also dedicated to the amazing teachers that influenced me during my youth. Thank you!
