People’s Food Co-op can help you get the best value for your shopping dollar. Their produce, meat & dairy, and grocery items are local, organic, and have the best quality for you and your family at fair prices that support local farms and producers.

Member Specials

You don’t have to be a member of People’s Food Co-op to shop, but being a member does allow you to take advantage of members-only specials. Every month, we offer deep discounts—up to 50% off—on select items. Save big on everyday staples, such as bagels, bulk spices, peanut butter, and wellness items.

Also, when you’re a member of the co-op, you may take 5% off of your shopping bill twelve times a year! It pays to plan ahead. Christina, a long-time PFC shopper, plans her shopping trips around one big shop every month. “My kids eat quite well.” She says. “I binge shop. I’ll do two-carts-full of groceries on days I use my 5% discount. Everybody sees me coming with my big shopping trips. I have one list that I add to throughout the month and I try to take advantage of the member specials. I’ll buy three months’ worth of olive oil, for example, when it’s on sale, and by the time I’ve used that up, it’s on sale again.”

To become a member is simple. There’s a one-time fee of $100 that will pay for itself with member discounts.

When shopping, look for the red “Member Specials” shelf tags. Specials are listed in The Shopper, the co-op newsletter, which members receive in the mail. They are also found on the homepage of the co-op’s website at www.pfc.coop.

Members may also take a 10% discount when they buy by the case! If you find something you really like, talk to their staff and they can order you a case of that product for an additional discount. People’s Food Co-op will discount your case purchases of your favorite wine, dish soap, or your kids’ favorite mac n’ cheese at an additional 10% off.

People’s Food Co-op is a member of the National Co-op Grocers. Working with their co-op partners they can pool their buying power and pass those savings on to you. Co+op Basics items are found throughout the store. There are over 300 Co+op Basics items to choose from! Some are name brand items that you already know and love, such as Organic Valley, or Greek Gods yogurt, but PFC also carries the Field Day brand. Field Day products are affordable organic varieties of staples. Peanut butter, canned beans and vegetables, juices…all sorts of good food at great prices.

There’s no need to watch sale signs or remember dates—Co-op Basics are the best prices year round. No coupon or membership required. Just look for the purple signs throughout the store.

Not only are you saving money when you shop the purple tags, you’ll also be helping to support local Rochester community organizations. Every month, PFC donates 1% of all Co+op Basics sales to local organizations working to reduce hunger or protect the environment in Rochester MN. In the past year, PFC shoppers have donated to Channel One, Hiawatha Trout Unlimited, Community Dental Care, and others.

Please also support local farmers and producers whenever possible. PFC defines a local supplier as a farmer or producer within 200 miles of the store. Local suppliers are working to bring you the best organic and humane food available. PFC stands by their local producers and have worked with many of them for decades. Their produce and grocery, cheese, and meat items will be marked with a small red “Local” tag. At People’s Food Co-op we’re all in this together to make a better planet and community one shopping cart at a time.

See you in the store!
