Big Harry Potter fan here. I lived and breathed it 20 year ago and read the books right alongside my elementary aged brother (I was in college at the time). I was completely swept up in the magic of it all…I still am. It remains one of my favorite storylines of all time.
I was so *delighted* to read about the new Harry Potter at Home hub that launched on the online platform Wizarding World of Harry Potter that author JK Rowling announced earlier this week. “Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic,” she said at the launch of the site.
“For over twenty years now, Hogwarts has been an escape for all — for readers and fans, young and old. During the strange times we now find ourselves in, we want to welcome you back to Hogwarts, where you will find a friendly retreat for you, your family and those you are caring for.”
JK Rowling is an angel of a human being…just doing incredibly decent things with her fame, fortune, and our beloved Harry Potter. The Harry Potter at Home hub is one example, and relaxing copyright restrictions so teachers can read her books aloud online is another.
The new Harry Potter at Home hub is so fun and full of things to do. In addition to puzzles, quizzes, videos, and games, you can listen to the first book in the Harry Potter series Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (the title in the UK is Harry Potter and the Philsopher’s Stone).
If you’re like me and have young kids (and are a diehard Harry Potter fan) and you cannot WAIT for them to read the books and fall in love with the characters, this might be a great way to introduce them to story!
