A Journey Into the Magical World of Harry Potter

A Journey Into the Magical World of Harry Potter

I am a self-professed Harry Potter diehard fan! I’ll never forget the moment I cracked open my first book and delved into the magical world of wizards and muggles. From that moment on, I loved all things Harry Potter. I’ve read the books countless times, watched the movies over and over and took the trip of a lifetime to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. Don’t even get me started on my collection of HP memorabilia. If you are already a fan, like I am, then you know what I’m talking about. However, if you have not yet had the pleasure of becoming versed in the beautifully woven tapestry that is the world of J.K. Rowling, then I urge you to head out to the Rochester Public Library and pick up a copy of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” the first book of the series.

When you journey into the world of Harry Potter, you will get your first enchanting glimpse into the realm where the magic you remember from your childhood is still alive and well. You know, the magic you felt when the title sequence appeared across the screen while watching your favorite Disney film. Or the feeling when your parents read you your favorite bedtime story for the bajillionth time. The feeling when you discovered something wonderfully new. Back when you thought all things were possible. When you read the Harry Potter series, you are embarking on an adventure where all things are still possible, and there is magic with every turn of the page.

As an avid Harry Potter fan, the greatest moment was being able to share my favorite books of all time with my children. As I child, I spent many long afternoons engrossed in books. It was not uncommon to have a book in hand at the dinner table when I was growing up. Much to my delight, my children are just as in love with reading as I am. I lovingly call them my bookworms. My eldest has read the Harry Potter series just as many times as I have, and we were fully able to geek out together at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter during our trip to Universal Studios. Currently, my daughter and I are reading the first book together each night. Reading together has been a great bonding experience! And as for my youngest child, he doesn’t know this yet, but thanks to his fan-girl mama, he is a junior HP fan in the making.

Countless fans have been able to pass on their love for the magic of Harry Potter by introducing the books to the younger generations. It’s been 19 years since the very first book of the series was published and on July 31st a final installment of the series will be released. This time HP fans old and new will be able to discover what the next generation of witches and wizards have been up to in the new book, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” The book, which is actually the script of a play that is also debuting this month in London, picks up several years after we last said goodbye to Harry and friends. Harry is now grown with children of his own. Like many fans, I am excited to journey once again into the magical world of Harry Potter. This time with kids in tow.
